M1-rated bifold doors first in Finland
FP products have received the first in Finland to have M1 emission classification for its lightweight doors.
The M1 certificate is the highest emission rating for building materials awarded by Rakennustiedo and indicates that the product meets the strictest requirements for indoor air quality.
The classification is valid for products from 0 to 38db on all surfaces: artificial leather, genuine felt (100% wool), or PET felt (made from recycled plastic bottles).
What does this mean in practice?
✔️ Low VOC emissions
✔️ A safe choice for working and living environments
✔️ Easy approval for applications where M1 classification is required
When you choose a French door, you can now also choose a better indoor climate, as proven by research.
FP products - responsible solutions for Finnish sites.
The M1 emission rating is an important tool for choosing building materials when the aim is to healthy and pleasant indoor air. It ensures that products release only small amounts of chemical compounds into indoor air and that materials have no unpleasant odours - a major benefit for both occupants and builders.
What is the M1 emission classification?
M1 emission classification is Finnish voluntary emission classification of building materials, which assesses the performance of building materials, furniture and interior components chemical emissions to indoor air and their impact on indoor air quality.
The core of the M1 classification:
-
It tells you that the product is proven low-emission - i.e. the product does not emit significant amounts of harmful compounds such as VOCs, formaldehyde or ammonia into indoor air.
-
The classification also takes into account good indoor air quality with acceptable odour levels, not just chemical emissions.
-
The M1 mark supports good indoor air and comfort - good indoor air is odour-free and low-emission materials help to achieve it.
The importance of classification:
-
M1 on designed to improve indoor air quality in buildings, and has been used successfully in Finland for more than 25 years (the first ratings were issued in the 1990s).
-
The M1-rated product also supports Environmental objectives of the EU taxonomy, because it shows the low emissions of the product.
-
The classification is broader than many other European emission classifications, because it also takes into account ammonia and odour, not just VOC and formaldehyde emissions.
How the classification is created:
-
Emission values will be measured using prescribed test methods after completion (e.g. after 28 days) to assess long-term emissions of the material to indoor air.
-
The M1 classification is granted for a period of three years and can only be used on the product when it is marketed as a classified product.
FP Accordion Door
The FP-Tuotteet folding door is an easy-to-use space divider that has remained a popular solution year after year in daycare centers, schools, and offices alike. The folding door functions as a sound insulator, and its soft, pleated surface enhances room acoustics – the sound absorption coefficient of genuine felt is as high as 0.65.
As an M1-classified product, the FP folding door has been tested and proven to have low emissions, making it a safe choice especially for daycare centers and schools.
Surface options for the folding door include artificial leather, genuine felt (100% wool), or PET felt (made from recycled plastic bottles).
The door frame is made of durable aluminum combined with a steel scissor mechanism.
The door is available as standard in single- or double-panel versions, but it can also be customized into multi-panel configurations.
- Durable construction
- M1-classified product
- Wide range of artificial leather and felt color options
- Sound insulation up to 38dB
- Excellent acoustic improvement when finished with felt surface
