Tuusula's Rykmentinpuisto - adaptable space-sharing products are an integral part of the lifecycle school project

The more than 12 000 gross square metres of school and kindergarten facilities will be implemented as a life-cycle project, with flexibility of use at the heart of the project. A wide range of adaptable partitioning products will allow the spaces to be divided and adapted easily and quickly.

Convertibility and usability

A school and a kindergarten for 1 100 children will be built in Regimental Park. There will be classrooms for pupils in grades 1-9 and facilities will also be built for special needs education.

The project will be carried out by the construction services company Fira. Site engineer and procurement officer Lauri Suutarinen says that flexibility is a requirement for life-cycle school buildings.

Convertibility is an important part of sustainable construction, as it creates the possibility to adapt to changing needs over the life cycle of a building. There is no need to demolish or rebuild a building if its use or needs change over time.

”We need to be able to use the space for a variety of purposes. That's why this site has a lot of partition walls. Typically for school buildings, the partitions also have very strict sound requirements, and the usability must be such that different user groups can move them around,” says Suutarinen.

”We went through the different requirements of the project with FP Products already during the negotiation phase, and at that time we already had a really good range of options on how we could implement the partition walls. We found a solution that was cost-effective and user-friendly.”

Seamless cooperation

Fira's foreman Elias Nissinen says that good cooperation has been important in the project.

”In our cooperation with subcontractors, we hope that the agreed schedules will be met and the quality of the work will be what we have agreed.”

Close and good communication between FP Products and the site has made the project run smoothly.

”In projects like this, anticipation and scheduling are really important. We also work with the site to give the installers all the support they need to do their job as well as possible,” says FP Products Project Manager Maria Salmela tells you.

FP-paljeovi

The FP-Products bifold door is an easy-to-use room divider that is a popular solution year after year in kindergartens, schools and offices. The concealed door acts as a sound insulator, and its soft surface with beams improves room acoustics - the sound absorption coefficient of real felt is as low as 0.65.
As an M1-rated product, the FP bifold door has been proven to be low-emission and therefore a safe choice, especially for kindergartens and schools.
The surface options for the concealed door are artificial leather, genuine felt (100% wool), or PET felt (made from recycled plastic bottles).
The frame material of the concealed door is durable aluminium combined with a steel scissor mechanism.
The door is available as standard in both one and two sections, but can also be customised into several sections.

  • Durable construction
  • M1-rated product
  • Many different artificial leather and felt colour options
  • Sound insulation up to 38dB
  • As a felt surface, it is an excellent acoustic enhancer
