Paytrail - Translucent glass walls in the office space enable a sense of community
Paytrail's new premises in the heart of Tampere reflect the company's brand and are suitable for inspiring teamwork and evenings out. Inspiring, modern and bright, the new premises require the seamless cooperation of many parties during the renovation phase.
The building set the framework for the design
The architectural design of the premises was carried out by the architectural firm Design meme and interior design and furniture selection by design agency Nuan. As interior designers, we brought our expertise in glass walls to assist the designers. Thanks to this collaboration, Paytrail's wishes became reality, and the business premises of the old restaurant were transformed to meet the requirements of a modern ICT company.
Instead of individual rooms, Paytrail wanted to have a lot of communal and open-plan areas in its workspaces. In addition, the location of the premises in the heart of the city was important. The premises are located at Hämeenkatu 5, and the large panoramic windows in the façade provide a stunning view of Tuomiokirkonkatu. The characteristics of the old building made some demands on the design. Unique details are important, and the proportions of the openings, for example, had to be taken into account. There are many old beams and columns in the space, and in the old building they are not always straight.
”Old concrete structures, such as pillars and beams, were also left exposed. They create a unique atmosphere in the interior.”

A glass partition separates work from pleasure
The Paytrail office is divided into two main areas - the workspace and the social area. The workspace is separated from the rest of the office by an FP sliding glass wall that can be opened to restrict access to the workspaces, for example during client meetings.
In addition, access control was required on access routes. There are no mechanical doors everywhere, but electronic locks are used on the system walls. The glass walls are fitted with highly sound-insulating and stylish Deko DG glass doors.
Paytrail wanted workspaces that supported wellbeing at work, so the transfer of light from one space to another was important. Bright and open spaces improve well-being, interaction and work performance.
The appearance of the premises also played a big part in the design. We wanted to keep the structures as graceful, elegant and appropriate to the space as possible. In addition, good sound insulation was required in the meeting rooms, which is why FP Products' Decorative Glass Wall was the right choice.
”Rather than having seamless walls, we wanted the glass walls to provide a view from the small meeting rooms and work areas to the event space in the centre of the office.”
